Latvia

The National Film Centre of Latvia is a state institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, which implements the national policy in the cinema and film industry. It also administers the funds from the national budget intended for the cinema and film industry and undertakes to promote the development and competitiveness of film industry of Latvia.

It is worth looking at shooting in Latvia, as it offers two incentive schemes to choose from with a total of up to 50% co-financing. The programmes are production incentives for feature films, documentaries, animation films and TV films. The support can be combined with other public fundings in Latvia, if the co-financing programme’s support together with other funding sources does not exceed 50% of the film’s total cost in Latvia. The total yearly budget for the film industry is currently appr. €8,5 million.
