The British Film Commission (BFC) is the UK Government’s national organisation responsible for international film and TV production in the UK. The BFC is assigned to maximise and support the production of international feature film and TV to ensure the continued growth of the UK’s screen industries. Many different ways of funding are possible in the UK, ranging from government tax relief, numerous film funds like BFI, BBC Film, Film4 to regional funds offering support of up to £800k per production. The BFI fund has a volume of £26m per year, of which £10 are for production. Film4 comprises £15m. Besides the funding possibilities, the UK offers a film tax relief programme as a cash rebate of up to 25% of UK qualifying costs without a limit on the film’s budget and capped at 80% of the core expenditure.
